The Founder

Dr. Yogrishi Vishvketu, affectionately known as Vishva-ji, is an internationally renowned Yoga master, scholar, and humanitarian. He is a lifelong practitioner of the HimalayanYogic tradition, with over four decades of dedicated sādhanā (spiritual discipline), study, and teaching.Born in Northern India into a family immersed in the wisdom of Ayurveda, Sanskrit, and traditional healing arts, Vishva-ji was introduced to the path of Yoga from a very young age. His early years were spent in gurukula-style education, where spiritual teachingswere transmitted orally, experientially, and with deep respect for lineage and dharma. His formal education culminated in a PhD in Yoga Philosophy, earned from Gurukul Kangri University in Haridwar — one of India’s oldest and most respected Vedic institutions.

Reviving Classical Tradition

The Sri Akhanda Jungle Yoga Ashram & Retreat Centre stands as a continuation of India’s ancient tradition of forest-dwelling spiritual sanctuaries — places where seekers come not to escape, but to awaken.

Located in Kodikhet, Pauri Garhwal, just 27 kilometers from Rishikesh, the Jungle Ashram is a sacred space for immersion in Yogic life, far from the rhythms of modernity.

Here, seekers return to the simplicity of daily practice, the guidance of lineage, and the healing presence of untouched nature.

This Ashram is not a resort.

It is a living classroom, a place of sādhanā, and a mirror for inner work.

Land of the Gods: Devbhūmi and the Yogic Himalaya

The Sri Akhanda Jungle Ashram is situated in Uttarakhand, traditionally known as Devbhūmi, or The Land of the Gods. This region holds profound spiritual and historical significance:Rishikesh is widely regarded as the birthplace of Yoga.It has served for millennia as a gateway to the HimalayasThe sacred Gaṅgā River flows through these hills, bearing the vibrational memory of untold mantras, rituals, and acts of surrender.Ashrams are frequently mentioned in scriptures such as the Mahābhārata, Rāmāyaṇa, and Upaniṣads — as centres not only for meditation, but for study, healing, Ayurveda, and service.

Akhanda Sri Jungle Ashram Philosophy: Living the Akhanda Way

Inspired by the teachings of Himalayan Master Dr. Yogrishi Vishvketu, the Akhanda approach is holistic (akhaṇḍa) — integrating all limbs of Yoga in a seamless lifestyle.

The Ashram environment reflects this integration:

  • Bhakti (devotion) in ritual and chanting
  • Jñāna (wisdom) through scriptural study and self-inquiry
  • Karma (action) through selfless service
  • Rāja Yoga through meditation and internal discipline

When seekers gather with shared sincerity and awareness, the field of the Ashram becomes charged with transformational potential.
