Our 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India gives graduates a total of 500-hours of training on top of a 200-hour YTT. The course offers teachers a unique opportunity to engage more deeply with the yogic wisdom of the Koshas, Chakras, Pranas and Ayurveda as well as the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.

We’ll take care of you from the moment you arrive with convenient airport pickup and transit to the Ashram. You’ll spend the night with the group at a hotel in Delhi and we’ll travel all together to the Ashram in time for a relaxing yoga class and nourishing dinner followed by several rest days with orientation and a few nature and cultural excursions.
The Ashram provides three freshly cooked vegetarian meals a day with Gluten Free and Vegan options. The menu varies daily and includes organic foods sourced from the Ashram farm. Breakfast includes Ayurvedic herbal tea, homemade muesli, porridge, parantha or samosas, and fruits. Lunch and Dinner often consist of Dal (beans), vegetables (pumpkin, carrot, cauliflower, peas, spinach etc.), rice and chapatti. Read More

In techniques classes, you will workshop a variety of intermediate asana and pranayama techniques to complement those taught during YTT 200. You will gain greater skill in working with diverse student bodies using props and focused assists, including restorative postures and techniques adapted for the stages of pregnancy. You will also get to explore further use of the bandhas for breath retention and a variety of cleansing kriyas, such as Jal Kapalabhati and Sutra Neti (optional). We will explore the art of sequencing, language use, creating a transformational space, and design Intermediate / Advanced, Gentle / Restorative and Prenatal classes according to the Akhanda approach (Note: the course is not a complete therapeutic training in Restorative or Prenatal Yoga). You will learn how to assist and adjust students in more complex or restorative postures. And in addition to Akhanda 2/3, you will learn to sequence and teach two unique and profound class-styles designed by Yogrishi Vishvketu: Hatha-Raja and Five Koshas classes. The Business of Yoga sessions will explore how to plan for and lead successful retreats, and workshops. Vishva-ji developed this class style in 2002 to promote meditate flow, great for the evenings. In this practice, you will perform the sonorous Brahmaree pranayama (bumble bee breath) during each posture.
Gentle and supported yoga practices for stress release, nurturance and general wellbeing. These classes are rejuvenating for anyone who wants to reconnect with themselves during busy times or who deep rest for the body and mind.
In this unique class style, you will lean to design holistic sequences for a variety of levels that take students on a journey through the five layers of being: physical, energetic, mental/emotional, intuitive and bliss. A short series of pranayama and as asana techniques is repeated three times with a focus on each of the first three layers in progression. The final savasana and meditation lead students through the intuitive and spontaneous joy or bliss layer.
Akhanda Prenatal Yoga classes offer a balanced, holistic sequence of asana, pranayama, mantra, relaxation and meditation tailored to the stages of pregnancy. We will explore postures that are most beneficial for the various trimesters and modifications that can be made by pregnant yoginis in a regular yoga class. These classes may also include tips for the weeks leading up to birthing and sounding and breathing techniques that may be used during birthing.
A flowing sequence of asanas with long holding designed to encourage working through resistance, releasing outmoded patterns, and moving towards a profound sense of balance. Classes are interwoven with pranayama, mantra and kernels of wisdom from the yogic teachings and close with relaxation and meditation.
Each participant will co-teach three 1.5-hour classes in two or three of the styles listed, and will receive feedback from the trainers and their peers.

Explore all aspects of physical anatomy and how they relate to yoga postures, breathing techniques and cleansing: structural system, respiratory system, nervous system, digestive system and circulatory system. Learn more about fascia and connective tissue as they relate to yoga and stretching. Connect information about the nervous system to the yogic view of anatomy, kundalini and the nadis. How does this information influence how we understand breath work and meditation. Anatomy hours include subtle anatomy and the yogic vision of the energetic and subtle systems. Contact Hours: 17
Yogic anatomy is the view of the whole body according to Upanishadic and Tantric texts. We will explore the theory of the five koshas or layers of the body and how this applies to holistic, balanced living. We will also learn about and contemplate the seven chakras and their mantras and mantras and how they are used in mediation and in posture practice. We will also learn about the five pranas, the nadi system and Kundalini energy.
Through our interactive philosophy sessions, you will learn about the history of yoga and the various cosmologies of the broader yoga tradition, such as Veda and Samkhya. You will understand the periods of yogic history and their predominant practices and how they are relevant to our modern yoga experience. Delve into the poetic wisdom of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and review aspects of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. We will also explore Ayurveda and go deeper into how to balance the Constitutional types through the whole repertoire of yoga techniques, diet, lifestyle choices and how this relates to the 24 tattvas of Samkhya tradition. We will also explore the ethics of the yoga teaching profession.

We recommend that you apply several months in advance in order to ensure a spot in the 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India, and to have adequate time to prepare for travel, for required readings, completing the assignment and other preparations.
Completion of a Yoga Alliance Registered YTT 200, or equivalent, and
one year of teaching yoga asana, pranayama, philosophy and/or meditation (even if it is just teaching one class a week).
That said, we may admit a limited number of Akhanda Yoga graduates who have decided not to teach, but wish to embark on the program for advanced study with us.

Before the course

The readings and assignments will ensure that all applicants from various 200-hour programs have the necessary background knowledge to get the most out of the 300-hour course. The deadline for submitting these assignments is one month prior to the program start date.
