Yogrishi Vishvketu

Yogrishi Vishvketu (Vishva-ji) is known for his infectious laughter and stories. His holistic approach brings forward ancient wisdom for a modern age incorporating asana, pranayama, mantra, meditation and yogic wisdom in every class. His deepest aim is to inspire people to connect to their true nature, which is fearless, expansive, joyful and playful.

Krishnaa Mukti

Krishnaa Mukti met Yogrishi Vishvketu in 2007 when she was staying at Yoga Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh with a group of students she had brought to India. She attended one of Vishva-ji’s classes in Laksman Jhula and his style of teaching resonated on a deep level.

Ganesh (Guy Tardif)

Guy’s journey in Yoga began in 1999 watching VHS format Yoga videos in an attempt to rehabilitate himself from a motor vehicle accident. Fascinated by how breath and postures helped to heal his body, he wanted to see how Yoga could improve other areas of his life. That curiosity led him to explore many styles of Yoga.

Akhanda means whole and indivisible, In line with the original teachings of Yoga. Akhanda Yoga Institute, founded by Himalayan Master Yogrishi Vishvketu (PhD), offers a holistic toolkit to bring forward ancient wisdom and techniques for a modern age.
In Akhanda Yoga Teacher Training you will learn to teach advanced, artful, balanced sequences including a full repertoire of Yoga techniques: asana, pranayama, mantra and meditation linked with themes to Yogic wisdom.

Breathwork Training Outline

Akhanda Yoga covers all of the teaching areas set by the Yoga Alliance in our 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Asana, pranayama, and kriya techniques will be taught and practiced, and trainees will practice teaching them to their peers.
A course focused on breathwork / Pranayama will cover six main breathing techniques, how to incorporate breathwork in an asana sequence, teaching meditation, and sequences for emotional self-healing, immunity, oxygenation, and anxiety.
A variety of asanas will be covered including beginner and intermediate variations. Trainees will learn how to enter and exit a pose, checkpoints for alignment, benefits and contraindications for the asana, and how to assist students in the pose.
Teacher trainees will learn the form, benefits, and contraindications of many pranayama techniques including abdominal breathing, the three-part breath, ujjai pranayama, bhramaree pranayama, anuloma viloma, and kapalabhati pranayama.
In the anatomy and physiology classes, students will learn about both the physical system, how anatomy relates to yoga and the subtle body. Subtle anatomy is the Yogic teaching regarding the three bodies and five corresponding sheaths.
We will explore the idea of mantra as a mystical energy encased in a sound structure in relation to both saguna (nama) mantras and nirguna mantras such as Om. Trainees will learn to chant and present Yogic mantras.
The concept and techniques of meditation will be explored including guided meditation, creative visualization, meditation using yantra, mantra, ideation, ishta chakra and the withdrawal of the senses from external objects.
Transformational experiences will include rituals, healing circles and creative movement. Students will delve into the practice of both nama and abstract kirtan, as well as Vedic mantras.
The Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics section is the foundation of Yoga and an important aspect of the Akhanda YTTs. Students will be introduced to Yoga psychology and philosophy, Patanjali’s sutras, the Yamas and Niyamas, and the paths of Yoga.
Teaching Methodology and professionalism and ethics in Yoga teaching will be amply covered. We will present our Statement of Professional Standards, and explore how to become a transformational facilitator, or teacher rather than just an instructor.

This course will cover correct technique and sequencing of traditional Pranayamas and Kriyas including Kapalbhati, Bhastrika, Ujjai, Brahmaree and Anuloma Viloma. This strong foundation will be extended through an exploration of the traditional Yogic theories, practices, and corresponding modern day scientific findings behind these ancient Pranayama techniques.

The Akhanda Yoga 200 Hour Virtual Teacher Training with focus on Pranayama is also a prerequisite for our Pranayama Masters training program.
