Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram Trust

Co-founded by Yogrishi Vishvketu in 2007, the Ashram is a comfortable, nurturing sanctuary for spiritual seekers from around the world, and is the hub of Akhanda Yoga, holistic, non-sectarian teachings that do not teach the wisdom of only one lineage, but draw on multiple sources and voices.

The Ashram is also a charitable trust that works to support the local community through weekly food drives (for associations such as a diabetes centre and a local leprosy colony), full moon feasts (for mendicant monks), and educational and Yoga scholarships.

A number of scholarships have been given to local students for both higher education and yoga teaching certification. Beneficiaries have graduated from local universities in graphic design, MA Yoga, PhD Yoga as well as the Akhanda Yoga Teacher Training programs. Many are now successfully earning a living teaching Yoga across northern India.
Sansar Gyaan Pathshala

In 2013, Yogrishi Vishvketu and the Ashram founded a charitable school named Sansar Gyaan Pathshala meaning ‘World Knowledge Lessons’. The eco-friendly School offers free education, uniforms and books to over 300 underserved girls and boys in rural Uttar Pradesh, India, about 1.5 hours from Rishikesh.

We have worked hard to promote girls education and have achieved a parity of girls and boy at the school. Children excel when families participate in their education and growth. The School works with the community to help parents learn creative, educational games that are fun for the whole family.

The School was built with the support of Helping Hands for India. It started with grades K – 8, and now children in 8th form are hoping to continue up to grade 10. We love that the children wish to stay on with us into the higher grades. Your donations can make this possible as well as help us with ongoing operations.

Helping Hands for India

Helping Hands for India is a registered Canadian charity managed by a dedicated team of Akhanda Yoga volunteers from around the world. Helping Hands for India is a non-denominational group committed to providing educational opportunities and to promoting well being of children in India.

Donations raised funds to help with the construction of Sansar Gyaan Pathshala and continue to help provide for ongoing operations such as teachers’ salaries, uniforms, books and special sanitary kits for girls. Donations will also help us expand to include studies up to grade 10!

The ashram performs Agni Hotra (fire puja) daily at 8am in the Vedic tradition. We have handbooks with Vedic mantras in Romanized Sanskrit and the English translation. Residents and others wanting to join can experience and learn this valuable, ancient Indian ritual.

On special occasions, the ashram hosts a feast for orphaned children. The feast offers sattvic vegetarian meals, homemade sweets, and gifts of notebooks and pens.
